Universal Closures

  • Universal Vented Closure Coil 
    This is 2” wide x 1” thick closure coil that can be compressed into variety of metal panel profiles, which increases its versatility. A thicker closure coil is available for metal profiles with ribs higher than 1/4”.
    Application / Purpose:
    This closure is used between the roof metal sheet and ridge cap to help prevent debris and moisture from entering between the roof metal and ridge cap while increasing ventilation. This product has an adhesive backing, which aids installation even in windy conditions.
  • Valley Foam / Universal Foam Closure Coil
    This is 1 1/2” wide x 2” thick closure coil that can be compressed into a variety of metal panel profiles, which increases its versatility. A thicker closure coil is available for metal profiles with ribs higher than 1/4”.
    Application/Purpose:
    The closure coil helps to prevent debris and moisture from entering between the roof metal and ridge cap and is used in two areas.
    1) Between the Variety Flashing (#24) and W-Valley Flashing (#20) and the roof sheet metal.
    2) Between the roof metal sheet and ridge cap.
Vented Ridge Cap

Vented ridge caps are easily installed and boast great site adaptability to accommodate various pitch sizes – this product a great addition to any insulation building project!

Vented ridge caps are available in all 21 Can-American colours, and Galvanized.

Pipe Flashings

Pipe flashings seal ones metal roofing system around protruding apparatus’, such as, plumbing stacks, hydro masts, and cylindrical chimney’s.

There are 3 types of pipe flashings that are critical to the previously mentioned applications: standard and maxi pipe flashings, retrofit pipe flashings and hi temp pipe flashings.

Pipe flashings are easily installed due to their:

  1. Ease of on site customization for pipe diameter, sporting clearly marked pipe diameters on its conical side.
  2. versatility to conform to most cladding profiles, irrespective of the pitch or pipe location on the roof
  3. adaptability to be installed in either of two approaches –either top down, or around the sides

Standard Pipe Flashings are suited best to plumbing stacks and other pipe protrusions. They are available in a variety of diameters ranging from ¼” to 18”. Furthermore, for the extreme diameter requirement there is a Maxi Pipe flashing for diameters from 13” to 26”.
Retrofit Pipe flashings present a “snap-on” approach to installation. Thus, they best suited for applications in which over the top installation is not an option. The “snap-on” feature allows one to cradle the apparatus and snap the flashing closed as opposed to simply pulling the flashing down from the top of the protrusion.
HI Temp Flashing are commonly used in applications involving extreme heats, such as, but not limited to a non-insulated chimney’s.

Its 24 gauge Bright White panel system provides a clean, striking, durable finish to any interior or exterior view, while maximizing functionality. This round track system is specially designed to provide years of smooth, easy sliding operation with fingertip guidance, as its self-clean design founded in its 14 gauge galvanized construction sets your project up to withstand the test of time.

Please view sliding door hardware components based on required frame size: 1 ½ frame , or 3 ½ frame. Frame size is dictated by the size of sliding door required; consult your local sales representative for assistance in door sizing.

Cellulose Insulation provides an economically sound, environmentally friendly and family safe alternative for insulating attic areas.

Cellulose insulation is a natural cellulose fibre consisting of approximately 85% recycled post-consumer newspaper. Thus, diverting waste from our landfills, while reducing home energy requirements – a green product!

Radiant heat transfer is the prevailing manner in which most buildings suffer heat / cold loss. However, double bubble insulation works for you to curtail the main portion of this loss.

Double Bubble Insulation consists of 2 layers of polyethylene bubble inserted between either 2 layers of 99% pure aluminum foil (wall and ceiling applications) or a combination of 1 layer of aluminuim and 1 of white polyethylene (concrete applications). The air bubbles form a thermal break and a vapour barrier, while the external aluminum reflects up to 97% of the radiant energy.

Furthermore, the bubbles contain an air retention layer that is designed to provide increased strength and enables the product to resist punctures, tears, or cracking.

Environmentally Friendly
This product is comprised of 20% recycled plastic.

Bubble insulation is a labour efficient product that enables a consumer to lower their energy consumption by a vast reduction their in heating and cooling requirements. Bubble insulation has a limited lifetime warranty.

Great care is taken during the manufacture and lamination of your faced fiberglass insulation, ensuring that our products will deliver their maximum possible thermal performance. During Silvercote’s manufacturing process, hot melt adhesive technology and surface wind systems are utilized, as opposed to traditional water-based adhesive and center wind systems, improving overall recovery. However, it is equally important that the material be installed correctly in order to provide maximum in-place thermal performance.

Fiberglass insulation works by trapping air between interwoven fibers. Therefore, it is important to allow recovery to maximum thickness prior to installation in order to optimize performance. Proper installation requires placing the insulation with enough excess over the purlins or girts to allow recovery to full thickness in the central zone of the purlin or girt space.

Because faced fiberglass insulation often provides the final, finished appearance on the interior of the building, it is not uncommon for the installer to apply excessive tension to the insulation during installation in order to create a smoother finish. Applying excessive tension could inhibit recovery to maximum possible thickness, preventing the material from performing as designed. Additionally, improperly installed insulation may not meet building code requirements.

Vapor Retarders
Vapor retarders (commonly called “facing”) serve several purposes. They primarily provide an aesthetically pleasing interior appearance as well as demonstrate a low water vapor transmission rate (or “perm” rating). Permeance is a measure of the flow of water vapor through a particular material. Typically, a lower perm rating corresponds with a superior performing facing material. Facing materials should also have provide superior strength characteristics so that they uphold during installation as well as provide the desired degree of durability once installed.

Connecting Rolls of Faced Blanket Insulation
For a standard (single layer insulation) building application, the facing material is typically 6” wider than the fiberglass insulation. The extra facing is referred to as a “tab” and maybe supplied as two-3” tabs (fiberglass centered on the facing) or one-6” tab (fiberglass shifted completely to one side).

If two-3” tabs are supplied, a plier stapler should be used to connect adjacent rolls
of insulation. At the joined seam, pull the tabs upward and staple approximatelyevery
8”. The initial staples should be placed 1⁄2” from the end of the tabs (as shown below). Once this initial stapling is complete, fold the joined tabs over and staple in between each original staple, approximately every 4”. Tuck the completely sealed tab back into the joint. Caution should be taken not to staple too close to the base of the tabs as the staples may pull out during the sheeting process, resulting in undesired appearance and a poor vapor seal.

In a one-6” tab application the full width of the facing is laid flat on the purlins or against the girts with the tab extended in the sheeting direction. The flush edge of the next roll is placed tightly against the previously installed roll and positioned onto the 6” tab (see illustration).

Silvercote can apply double stick tape to the tab(s) during lamination for a minimal upcharge. We refer to this as a “tape tab” or a “seal tab”.
